About Micah

I was born in San Marcos, Texas, to a family that deeply loved Jesus. Growing up, I could not remember a day when gospel principles were not present in our home. Whether it be forgiveness, loving discipline, or prayers at every meal, my three siblings and I were subjected to the things of the Lord every day. Knowing I was a sinner needing a savior, I put my faith in Jesus in 2007.

From that moment on, my life was met with all the pains that come from a moralistic, perfectionist mindset. Simply put, people loved me when I did well. It had always been (and still is) difficult to believe that God’s love for me is not based on merit. But naturally, what followed was a significant amount of anxiety and some depression from the weight of having to be “perfect.” It was too much to bear, but God was on the move.

In my senior year of high school, I met Ben, now a very close friend of mine, and he invited me to a Bible study. The peace of Christ met me, removing many of the burdens that had built up over time, including all my anxiety.

I came to UT Dallas to play soccer and pursue a Bachelor’s in Geosciences. However, I stayed because Josh Thomas introduced me to a ministry called Campus Outreach and invited me to Citizens Church. I began attending Citizens Church in the fall of 2019.

My Hope for Citizens Church

My hope for Citizens Church is that we meet people where they are at, tell them of Jesus Christ, and help them make disciples. I pray that we live in community with one another, closely connected to stir one another up toward love and good deeds.
