I grew up in the Carrollton/Plano area. My family attended church regularly and I loved being involved in all youth activities. During my middle school and high school years, I developed a deep love for our church family and felt a strong sense of loyalty to the church body, however, I did not understand the gospel. Toward the end of my senior year of high school, as I was feeling brokenness and exhaustion from years of seeking approval from people, I started attending a Bible study where I heard about the grace and mercy of Jesus – finally, a clear picture of the salvation offered to me through Jesus. After a few weeks of hearing the truth, I felt the weight of my sin and God’s grace settled on my heart. From that moment, I desired to follow the Lord and knew that my life would be different.
Since then, I have loved serving the next generation of believers. In my college and young adult years I worked at a Christian summer camp and served with Young Life. I met my husband, Matt, while we were both volunteering with Young Life and we got married in 2007.
We started attending The Village Plano Campus (now Citizens Church) in January 2015 and are so thankful to be a part of this community.
We have three kids, Layne, Wheeler and Sam. Our family loves to travel and adventure; we are trying to visit as many National Parks as we can!
My hope for Citizens Church is that we would be a people marked by love. That our love for God would infiltrate every area of our lives as we encourage each other and care for the people around us. That we would press on, reminding each other that Jesus is Lord and that He is coming again to make all things right.
