Recovery Minister
I was born and raised in Collin County. My mom and grandparents modeled a life of trust in God and taught me early on about Jesus’ death on the cross for my sin. Although I grew up knowing I need a savior and looked to God for rescue, my faith didn’t mature with age. Living up to God’s standards seemed impossible and I was angry at Him for allowing so much pain in my childhood. I wanted the benefits of God’s love but didn’t trust Him completely. But God, in his loving patience, pursued my heart and showed me a better way. At the age of 18, he drew me from luke-warm faith and I surrendered my whole life to following Christ. As the oldest of 6 children, I developed a heart for helping others. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and then UT Southwestern Medical Center with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor and consider it a privilege to come alongside others as they seek restoration. My husband, Price, and I moved to Plano to be closer to my younger siblings which brought us to Citizens Church. I quickly grew a passion for Recovery and Steps. What a joy - to join in on the work of this ministry and our church!
My hope for Citizens Church is that we would be a people whose greatest delight is to know and love God, a place for people to come in their suffering and find hope for healing and a church that fosters deep confessional community, shedding light into the darkness. I pray we would be a church who takes the redemption of our stories into our neighborhoods and out to the nations, to make Jesus’ name great.
