Production and Content Strategist
Born in Dallas, lived a short stint in Memphis, until my family moved to Plano when I was in kindergarten. I grew up attending church, with Christian parents and grandparents who encouraged me and spoke biblical truth to me. I was a “good” kid and outwardly a rule follower, though inwardly I had a disobedient heart. When I was 14, at a summer camp in hot Central Texas, the gospel became real for me. I recognized what Jesus sacrificed for my sins and I deeply believed in the reality of who He was and how much He loved me. It was there I finally recognized my depravity and my need for Him. I was baptized in the camp's pool with my parents and peers circled around me.
I graduated from Texas A&M and moved back home to Dallas to pursue a graduate degree, having barely attended a church community through most of college. I knew I had a relationship with Jesus but I didn’t know how to live that out, or how important biblical community actually was. I wasn’t great at studying the Word, just repeating the bits that I had heard over the years. After bouncing around some different churches, I attended a service at The Village Church in spring 2012. Something about the way the gospel was preached that day, and the way the church worshipped, my faith felt ignited. I felt like God had some really important things to teach me through this place and these people.
I dove in pretty quickly, joining a Home Group a few months into attendance. It was there I began some of my closest, edifying friendships to this day. We studied together, prayed together and encouraged each other. I wanted to serve the church in some way, and with my photography experience, Production seemed to make the most sense for me. I started as a volunteer in 2013 at the Village's Dallas campus, switching to the Plano campus when they launched in 2014. Then, seeking to learn more and transition from my corporate career, God opened some doors and I became a Production intern for the Plano campus in 2018. All along, God has been maturing me and encouraging me through the church and its people, and through serving and working with this staff at Citizens Church.
My hope for Citizens Church is that we would be a people who encourage each other and who live out the gospel with such boldness, that those who see it can only attribute it to the glory of God.
