Premarital Counseling Deacon
I’m so thankful that I had incredible parents who taught me the Bible and were intricately involved in my church home. I accepted Christ as my Savior at age 7, and by the time I was 16, I knew that God was calling me to something special. I just wasn’t sure at the time exactly what that meant. I knew I was willing, and He would provide the abilities I needed to accomplish my calling. I soon realized my desire to work with youth and, eventually, young married couples and singles. This desire led me to Amazon Outreach, where I have the opportunity to take people to the Amazon and disciple them through their travels.
I had two children with Tom, my husband of 32 years. Tom passed away seven years ago from a massive heart attack. Meanwhile, in Chicago, two weeks before Tom died, Don Holmes’ wife of 33 years, Corrine, passed away after suffering from breast cancer. Don had been a part-time music minister for many years while also working in healthcare sales.
God orchestrated our stories in a miraculous way that only He could do, and we were married November 13, 2010. Don joined The Village Flower Mound campus shortly afterward, and we started a new Home Group the following year. We also serve as Home Group coaches. In 2013, we began helping with premarital counseling through The Village.
It is our privilege to be over the premarital counseling at the new Plano campus. God can use anyone, even us, as long as we are willing. We love taking groups from The Village to the Amazon to carry out the Great Commission—to “go” and make disciples of all nations. This is our desire to carry out here at home and on the Amazon River.
My hope for Cittizens Church is for our body to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. As we walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, I pray we are fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
