The ABLE Ministry is about accessing, belonging, learning, and equipping. This ministry provides access to the Gospel, community, and care; makes a way for every person to belong; provides access to instruction so each person can learn in a way suited to his or her needs; and equips people with the Good News of a Savior who died for them, loves them, and wants a relationship with them. Citizens Church believes in supporting and serving ALL people, including those who are often underserved and overlooked.
Citizens Church offers resources and support to not only people diagnosed with disabilities, but also family members. Our hope is that parents/guardians, siblings, and people with disabilities can find community, care, and support at the church. The events/resources we currently have include:
- Respite nights
- Parent/guardian group
- 1:1 support during services on Sunday
- Inclusion support during services
We are continuing to evaluate how we can better care for individuals with disabilities and their families.
Serving in the ABLE ministry includes activities such as being a one-to-one volunteer supporting a person with a disability, providing childcare for parent meetings, organizing and supervising activities at respite nights, and serving our adults with disabilities. We are constantly needing new volunteers to fill these needs. If you are interested in serving in the ABLE Ministry, please contact Chelsi Anderson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
