I grew up in San Diego, Calif., and moved to Denton, Texas, when I was 12 years old. That summer, I attended church for the first time and the following summer, I attended youth camp in Glorieta, N.M. I was presented with the gospel and soon began to understand Jesus’ sacrifice and the reality of my brokenness. I remember standing in the middle of the cafeteria as a loud crack of thunder sounded and feeling absolutely terrified. I started crying and called out to the Lord. It was the first time I felt the Lord’s presence. I knew from that day on that I was His.
Unfortunately, that profound moment was not followed by discipleship or a clearer knowledge of what living my life for Christ actually meant. I read the Bible front to back but struggled to walk in obedience. I went from relationship to relationship, trying to find my identity in worldly things.
After two years of sitting under the teaching at The Village, begging the Lord to rescue me from my rebellion, God did just that. He opened my eyes to everything I had read and heard since the age of 12. It all made sense. From that point on, I could not get enough of the knowledge of God. I started serving in Kids Village, where I learned foundational truths that have forever shaped my view of the Lord.
I married my husband, Jason, in November 2009. I nannied for about seven years, and the Lord used that time to teach me what it looks like to be a mom, a wife, a friend and a daughter. I joined The Village staff in September 2014 as a Preschool Ministry Assistant, later moved to an Executive Assistant and in 2019 made the change to Design Manager as we rolled off as Citizens Church.
My hope for the church is that we would humbly pursue the Lord and be steadfast in our love toward His people as He faithfully brings restoration to all things.
