How Our Recovery Ministry Works

Come as You Are

You don’t need to sign up, simply show up. Whatever you are going through, there is a place for you. Recovery isn’t just for people wrestling with addiction, but for all people who want a place to be honest about their struggles. We welcome both believers and the skeptic with honest questions. We provide childcare for birth to 5th grade at no cost.

Worship in a Large Group

We start the night off in a large group setting, where you will be led in a time of worship, prayer and biblical teaching. Throughout each semester, you will also hear stories of lives changed by the gospel.

Join a Small Group

Then we move into issue-specific small groups. If you’ve never been before, we offer a newcomers group to orient you to the ministry, answer questions and can help point you to a specific small group.

Our Recovery Ministry has weekly groups that meet to support the following issues.

Chemical Addiction
Difficulties with addiction to substances and alcohol. Whether your addiction struggles are current or in the past, there is a community for you to walk in accountability and wisdom.
Trauma & Abuse
Suffering can come at the hands of others—through verbal, emotional, sexual, financial, or physical abuse. While trauma can result from abuse, it can also come from other experiences. We aim to create an environment that cares well for those who have experienced both abuse and trauma.
Suffering & Grief
Suffering and grief due to all forms of loss. This includes death of a loved one, disease, relational loss, situational grief, and/or disabilities.
Anxiety & Depression
Difficulties related to anxiety and depression. Whether your mental health struggles are current or in the past, chronic or situational, there is a community for you to walk in accountability and wisdom.
Shame & Guilt
Shame, guilt or false guilt from sin committed against you or sin you’ve committed.
Anger
Difficulties related to anger and resentment, including bitterness, frustration, explosiveness, rage, harsh language, passive aggressiveness, etc.
Sexual Struggles
This includes the spectrum of sexual struggles—from lust and disordered desires to pornography and homosexuality.
Marriage Troubles
Issues with marriage conflict, infidelity, abandonment, betrayal, divorce, or ongoing toxicity in marriage. Initially, we encourage people to participate in the separate Men’s and Women’s marriage troubles groups.
Life Struggles
We always have a group for Men’s Life Struggles and Women’s Life Struggles. These groups are meant to act as a “catch all” or if the other groups do not describe the issues you are facing.

Michael Snetzer
Recovery Minister

My hope for Citizens Church is that we would bring glory to God through lives changed by the gospel for Jesus Christ. I pray that we would be known as a place for gospel-centered hope and healing for the broken and broken-hearted.

Recovery Minister

My hope for Citizens Church is that we would be a people whose greatest delight is to know and love God, a place for people to come in their suffering and find hope for healing and a church that fosters deep confessional community, shedding light into the darkness.
