Get to know Peggy Ucella
Recovery Deacon
I was born and raised in the Midwest, but I have called Texas home for several decades. I grew up in the Catholic Church, but at 17, I heard the gospel at a nondenominational church in my hometown and confessed Jesus as my Savior. Fully surrendering to Jesus as Lord, however, came later in my adult life.
I first began attending Recovery at Citizens in 2015 during a painful season of separation and eventual divorce. After my son left for college, I began attending Citizens regularly and became a member in September 2019.
Because my story includes many years in a recovery program that was not centered on the gospel, as well as God’s continued work through hardship and healing, I felt called to serve in the Recovery Ministry. Through serving in various roles within Steps and Recovery, I have had the privilege of watching Jesus bring confession, repentance, reconciliation, freedom, and deeper worship into the lives of those in the ministry, including my own.
My Hope for Citizens Church
My hope for Citizens Church is that we will continue to be a place where people both within and beyond our church body can find healing from sin and suffering, along with lasting hope and freedom in Christ.
