Connections Deacon
I was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and raised in a Christian home. I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was nine years old. Because my father served in the Air Force, our family lived on several different bases before he retired at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth. We then moved to Arlington, Texas, where I spent my preteen and high school years.
When I was 15, I joined a church, was baptized, and began growing in my relationship with Christ through studying the Bible and learning to pray. I met Brian on my first day of college at North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas, in Denton. I fell in love with him almost immediately, and we dated for four and a half years. During that time, we were both deeply involved in the early days of Denton Bible Church.
Church involvement has always been an important part of our lives, and we began attending Citizens Church six years ago. I felt drawn to serve with the Communion Team, so I started as a substitute and quickly became a regular volunteer. I love that our church worships together each Sunday through communion as we remember Christ’s sacrifice.
Brian and I have been married for 45 years and have three grown sons. The Lord has also blessed us with two wonderful daughters-in-law and four grandchildren, who are truly our joy. Our oldest son, Matthew, serves at Citizens as a drummer on the Worship Team, and his wife, Brandi, serves in Kids Ministry. Our youngest son, David, and his wife, Rachel, recently joined Citizens as well.
My Hope for Citizens Church
My hope for Citizens Church is that we will grow closer to Jesus as we hear and study God's word and share it with all we come in contact with to make disciples. “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom and teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Col 3:16
