Get to know John Allman
Recovery Deacon
I grew up outside of Chicago, where I was introduced to a world of gambling that quickly became a 20-year addiction. I spent decades chasing an escape, significance, and control through betting. After relocating to Texas for work, I hit a deep financial and spiritual rock bottom. Desperate for help, I began attending Gamblers Anonymous, where the Lord used another man's testimony to point me to my true hope: Jesus Christ.
My wife, Anna, and I joined TVC Plano (now Citizens Church) in 2014, and I have been involved in our Recovery and Steps ministries ever since. God has beautifully shown me that my deepest desires for peace and wisdom are fully satisfied in Christ.
Today, I am blessed to serve as a leader, mentor, and coach, working not for my security, but from the secure place of what Jesus did for me. We reside in Allen, TX, and have one adult daughter, Jessica.
My Hope for Citizens Church
My hope for our church is that we would be a place where people bring their deepest brokenness and experience the radical grace of the gospel. I pray that through our Recovery ministry, the Holy Spirit would transform lives, heal families, and anchor us all in our secure identity as beloved children of God.
